Dr. Koç is a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and the National Magnetic Resonance Research Center (UMRAM) at Bilkent University. He leads AykutKoc Lab.

Dr. Koç received the B.S. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2005 and then moved to Stanford University, CA, USA for graduate studies. He received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering in 2007, the M.S. degree in management science and engineering in 2009, and the Ph.D. degree (under the supervision of Professor Lambertus Hesselink) in electrical engineering in 2011, all from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA. He also received a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree in Law from the Faculty of Law, Ankara University, Ankara, Turkey.

Dr. Koç holds the Associate Professor ("Docent") title from the Interuniversity Council of the Republic of Turkey. He is currently an Associate Editor of IEEE Signal Processing Letters, IEEE Transactions on Signal and Information Processing over Networks, and IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology. He is a Senior Member of IEEE.

Dr. Koç has authored or co-authored over 80 research papers, one book chapter and five issued patents.
